Unlce Tobys Muesli Bars

Uncle Toby's has been around since 1893 promoting healthy treats for kids to take in their lunchboxes, over the years they have expanded their range of products while still ensuring that they are a healthy and nutritional treat for growing kids. This Ad for the Forest Fruit muesli bar demonstrates all these qualities.

Purpose Of the Advertisement

The purpose of this Uncle Toby's advertisement is to promote their Australian wholegrain of goodness Muesli Bar which are delicious, as i always have one in my lunchbox.
They have non-artificial colours and its a great way to up your kids intake of wholegrain especially if your kids are very active.

Structure, Form and Layout of the Advertisement

In this advertisement it follows the AIDA format ; Attention, Interest, Desire and Action.

Within the Ad it definitely grabs my attention as it has sophisticated vibrant colours, such as bright reds, and greens, which work together, an eye catching heading stating that "Kids will love a lunchbox packed with Australian wholegrain" and it has a very interesting layout and background design.

This Advertisement uses Vectors as you can see with the boys entire face being  45 degree's from the muesli bar as does the angle of the mothers hand which is converging on the muesli bar.  There is vertical placement of the heading which allows the image text to create a reading path from the top to bottom of the Ad

This Ad involves interest as it has attractive images that fit the consumer's world which are kids. The picture of the school boy, watching his mum put the muesli bar in his lunchbox, with a huge smile on his face indicates that he enjoys these muesli bars and cannot wait to eat it.
It has an effective close-up of the muesli bar so you can see that the packet of the muesli bar says "Chewy" allowing this treat to be easy on younger kids teeth. The Ad also uses quite emotive language underneath the image which explains how these muesli bars are a delicious healthy , high in wholegrain treat for kids.

This product definitely promotes the desire aspect of the bar as it clearly states at the bottom of the ad in the paragraph that it's a healthy treat containing wholegrain within the bar that is equivalent to 2 slices of wholegrain bread.

The Action within the Ad is that because the muesli bar contains the equivalent amount of 2 slices of wholegrain bread its a tasty, healthy treat for kids lunchboxes that they will enjoy.

Target audience and Advertising features which indicate who the audience is

The target audience that is pulled from this advertisement is growing kids who are active and mothers who need something nourishing , quick and easy for their kids lunchboxes. This Ad of the Uncle Toby's muesli bar is made for kids not just because of the main image of the school boy but also because at the top of this Ad it states that "Kids will love a lunchbox packed with Australian whole grains".

The main feature of the Ad that would attract kids though is the image of the school boy and the muesli bar which is placed right in the middle of the Ad which is very effective because kids rather look than read an Ad. I know i would much rather look at the image of the Ad then read the text description. The Ad won me over before i read the text description and as i am an active teenager i love these little treats after my swim training.
Overall you can tell straight away that the target audience is kids and teenagers.

Written and Visual techniques making this advertisement and effective marketing tool

Uncle Toby's Muesli Bar advertisement is an effective marketing tool because it has been made by Uncle Toby's which have a large range of healthy products which sell very well and have they have been around since 1893. Also because they have Grant Hackett promoting this product. Overall they are promoting good health to young kids.

This Ad promotes a good healthy treat for kids as you can see this through the Ad with the picture of the Muesli bar and you can also read how healthy the bar is in the description of it at the bottom of the page, which will convince Mum's they are a healthy snack for your growing kids.

The image of the school boy grinning at his mum for putting the Muesli bar in his lunchbox indicates that he enjoys these healthy treats and that its the highlight of his lunchbox snacks.
Its also a very effective marketing tool because the bar comes in a huge range of flavours so everyone can enjoy it. They also sell a different range of muesli bars so if your kids want to try something else from the Uncle Toby's range they can do so with the benefit of it being healthy and tasty. They also have Athletes promoting the Muesli bar on the television Ads which i think is very effective as some of these athletes may be your Childs idol.

Overall Uncle Toby's products are all a healthy choice ensuring kids will love them as i already do.

Book Review : Trouble Tuesdays

Book Review:

The title of this book that is being reviewed is 'Trouble on Tuesdays, another secret diary by Sara Swan' written by Margaret Clark.

The main plot within this book is that Sara Swan's Dad is going through a mid-life crisis and leaves home on a Tuesday. Sara also discovers that Tuesdays are bad-luck days for her in more ways than one. So overall she begins to write a dairy on Tuesdays, mainly about Tuesdays! although she does include snippets of other important stuff that occurs during the week! Basically the book is about the life of a young girl having to experience the ups and downs of teenage years.

I loved this book because I read it when i was in year 7 which is where all the drama begins of growing up into a mature teenager. This book talked about friend issues, romance and family struggles which is something that I had to go through and it was nice to know that i can relate to the issues that are being discussed within the book for example when Sara's Dad goes through a mid-life crisis I was able to relate to that.

There wasn't anything i really disliked about the book because i was able to relate to everything in it. There were no stages when reading the book that became boring or made me not want to read it.

I would definitely recommend this book to young teenage girls of the ages of 12 as it is a great book discussing issues that they would be going through. It's also a great book because it's a series of 3 so if you loved this one you would love the other 2!
